COVID-19 Dashboard

St. Mark School has established protocols if a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19. We continue to monitor any potential transmission of the virus both on and off campus among students, teachers, staff, administrators and families. If a student tests positive for COVID-19, a student’s family should contact Nurse Wendy Frate at [email protected].

St. Mark School COVID Response Protocols

The CDC, Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) and the Department of Public Health (DPH) have provided updated guidance regarding our response to COVID in school. Based on this updated guidance, a review of our current data, and our discussions with the Stratford Health Department, we are adopting the recommendations of the CDC, CT DPH, and CSDE.

Isolation

● All individuals, regardless of vaccination status, who test positive for COVID will be able to return to school on the 6th day, provided they are fever-free for 24 hours and their symptoms have significantly improved.

Contact Tracing

● At this time, given the experience of CT school districts that have conducted in-person learning throughout the past 2 years of the pandemic, even in the setting of very high community transmission, and the infrequent conversion of in-school close contacts to positive cases, the position of the CT DPH is that routine contact tracing inside schools or during school-organized and supervised activities be discontinued

Preschool will continue with Contact Tracing as this is still considered a high risk area for transmission.

Notification of Cases

● Parents/Guardians will be notified of positive cases by classroom only as they develop via email.

● The Covid Dashboard located on our website will continue to be updated weekly.

Vaccinating

● Vaccination remains the most important strategy to keeping kids in school by mitigating the spread of COVID and limiting the severity of symptoms of the disease.

Testing

● Testing allows us to identify positive cases in a timely manner and limit spread. At home self-tests, rapid, antigen, and PCR tests will all be accepted. **If you are having trouble finding an appointment or test kit please contact the school nurse.

Mitigating

● We remain committed to the mitigation measures that have been successful in limiting in-school transmission throughout the pandemic. Specifically, those measures include face coverings, distancing to the greatest extent possible, and frequent hand washing or sanitizing. Most importantly, please keep your child home if they feel sick or have any COVID symptoms.

While circumstances have consistently changed over the last two years, we know the best strategies for safely returning to in-person learning - vaccinating, testing, and mitigating.
