Volunteering
Much of the success and many of the wonderful accomplishments at St. Mark School are made possible through the dedication and generosity of our incredible volunteers. We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our parents and community members, whose selfless contributions of time, talent, and effort enrich the educational experience of our students in countless ways. Whether assisting in the classroom, organizing school events, supporting extracurricular activities, or lending a helping hand behind the scenes, our volunteers play a vital role in fostering a nurturing and vibrant learning environment. Their commitment strengthens our school community, enhances student opportunities, and upholds the values that make St. Mark School a special place for learning and growth.
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and Diocese of Bridgeport requires each volunteer who works at any Catholic school to receive training from VIRTUS. The purpose of VIRTUS is to educate and empower everyone, individually and collective, to ensure optimal safe environments for children and the vulnerable.
To become VIRTUS compliant, anyone over the age of 18 must enroll in a training session (either virtual or in-person) by visiting www.virtus.org to create a free account and enroll in the course titled: Protecting God’s Children for Adults. After enrolling for the course, click the link to submit to a criminal background check. When both the VIRTUS course and criminal background check are complete, you will receive a certificate indicating the requirements have been fulfilled. A copy of your certificate must be kept on file in the school’s main office.
