Summer Work

Research shows that when students take a break from learning over the summer, they can lose up to two months’ worth of progress in math and reading. But the good news is, keeping young minds active with fun and engaging learning activities can make a big difference!

Staying sharp over the summer helps students feel confident and prepared when the new school year begins. To help support your child’s learning, we’ve put together summer work packets designed to keep skills fresh in a fun and manageable way.

These were sent home with returning students at the end of the school year, and mailed to new families in July. If you need another copy, no problem! Just click the grade level button links to download additional copies of the student summer work.

Reading and Math Choice Boards

Please note that the Math Choice Boards for students entering Grades K through 5 are designed to reinforce the skills taught during the current school year. These activities provide students with an opportunity to strengthen their understanding and build a solid foundation to support continued academic growth in the next grade level. Students entering Grades 6 through 8 are encouraged to complete a math skills review packet to help them refresh key concepts over the summer.

For Reading, the Choice Boards do not assign specific books. Instead, students are encouraged to select engaging, high-interest books that they can read and understand on their own.

There is no minimum amount of choice board squares to complete. Students are encouraged to complete as much as they can, and will be asked to return summer work to their teacher in September.
